HOUSTON –
(October 2, 2007)
– Kinesix Software, a developer of
graphical-user-interfaces for command-and-control and
decision-support applications, has released its latest
version of KX EDGE for .NET architectures: KX EDGE Version
2.0.
According
to Kinesix, comprehending complex data in real-time is an
advantage to anyone working in the fast paced business and
industrial operations of today. That’s why Kinesix released
its original version of KX EDGE in April 2006, and released
an enhanced version in February 2007. With KX EDGE, users
can monitor vast amounts of data across a networked
user-base via sophisticated real-time graphics and
animations – without the need to develop or maintain complex
in-house developed software.
“KX EDGE is
the perfect combination of .NET protocols and real-time
control-room technology, making it easy to bring
cutting-edge data visualization to any business or
industrial IT application,” said Russ Jamerson, CEO of
Kinesix.
Version 2.0
of the product offers several innovative features, further
enabling users to manage their projects from afar while KX
EDGE does the work. Additional features include:
·
Enhanced API for third-party communication
·
Rich
Web-based user interface
·
Legacy interface to Kinesix’s Sammi applications
KX
EDGE 2.0 provides an asynchronous, peer-to-peer API, which
enables applications in different domains to effortlessly
communicate with one another through numerous protocols –
including .NET remoting and HTTP. “With a rich Web-based
user interface, what you see is what you get, meaning the
same rich graphics viewed on the desktop are now available
via the Web,” said Jamerson.
In addition
to these enhancements, Kinesix has several developments in
the works for the next version of its KX EDGE solution,
which will focus on the needs of specific industries such as
upstream oil and gas. These updates will include thin
client, Web-based report generation and off-the-shelf
interfaces for XML-based data sources like WITSML, PRODML,
and OPC.
“Dynamic
real-time support systems are becoming increasingly vital to
sustained cost-effective operations,” said Jamerson. “And
new software solutions will be the key to creating these
systems – whether it’s in oil-and-gas production,
manufacturing, or any process-intensive industry. We believe
our new version of KX EDGE is that solution. With KX EDGE,
it’s easy to display almost any type of real-time data
across hundreds or even thousands of workstations, using the
most powerful and sophisticated graphics on the market.”
About Kinesix Software
Kinesix
Software is the developer of Sammi, an enterprise and
control-room graphics tool used by more than 20,000
mission-command and process-control workers. The Sammi
product, which was first launched in 1990, allows users to
build custom graphical displays that animate and manage
massive volumes of streaming data across dozens – or even
hundreds – of workstations.
With Sammi,
users see full-color dashboards, instead of rudimentary
numeric readings or basic, conventional GUIs. While Sammi is
often categorized as a graphics product, its real value lies
in its proven ability to display live data across a network
of command and control systems. Sammi is currently available
for Unix, Microsoft NT/2000/XP and Linux platforms. In
addition, Kinesix recently released KX EDGE, its
next-generation human-machine interface, based on
Microsoft’s .Net platform. Kinesix is based in Houston,
Texas. To learn more visit
